About Us

NEW Roots was formed by individuals with an unparalleled passion for helping children and families. The ideas surrounding NEW Roots stem from the ideals our team developed in our Fort Worth entity, Brain Balance.

Through working with children and parents at Brain Balance, we’ve seen there are quite a few gaps that were left unattended in the program.

From getting parents the tools they need so they can feel empowered in their parenting to teaching coping mechanisms to children coming from environments of trauma, our goal at NEW Roots is to close the gaps. We believe the more we can bring families together mentally and emotionally, the more successful that family unit will be.

Planting Stability with New Roots’ Core Values

With the development of NEW Roots, our biggest push was to create a non-profit where we could really get into our community at an intimate level.

The main goal of our organization is to transform trauma for children and families. Our organization strives to help make the families of Tarrant County the absolute strongest their bond can be.

We are focused on creating a connection built on trust and reaching the family as a whole body and plan on succeeding in our efforts through the implementation of our organization’s core values:

  1. Loyalty

We believe in the power of not giving up on people. We are committed to serving others faithfully, regardless of what it takes.

  2. Integrity

We believe that consistency and honesty should characterize our work. We are committed to practicing what we preach at every level of our organization.

  3. Safety

We believe change happens in the context of feeling physically and emotionally safe. We are committed to safe environments, safe relationships, and confidentiality.

  4. Teamwork

We believe that people are better together. We are committed to working as a team with our clients, community partners, and donors to optimize healing for victims of trauma.

  5. Inherent Value

We believe that people are inherently valuable. Regardless of where they have been or what they have done, we are committed to seeing others as worthy of respect.

  6. Trauma-Informed Care

We believe that every child and every family member deserve to be seen, heard, and valued. We believe that a child is not and should not be defined by their behavior. And until we can meet both the child’s and family’s needs, only then can we begin to see real change and hope.
